How Do Video Distribution Amplifiers Work?

A video distribution amplifier receives video signals from connected sources and distributes those signals to multiple outputs. The built-in amplifier circuitry maintains the appropriate signal level as video is routed to multiple destinations.

This allows a single video source to be viewed or recorded at multiple locations without requiring a separate source connection for every destination.

Rather than dividing a video signal using passive connections, the VDA provides active amplification and multiple dedicated outputs. This helps maintain the signal level required for reliable video distribution.

For example, video from multiple CCTV cameras can enter a Universal VDA at a central location. The distributed outputs can then be connected to VERSITRON fiber optic video transmitters when individual video signals need to be carried over longer distances to remote monitoring locations.

This combination provides centralized video distribution while taking advantage of fiber optics for long-distance transmission, electrical isolation, and immunity to EMI/RFI.
