10 Gigabit Copper-to-Fiber Media Conversion

The VERSITRON M7280 converts 10/100/1G/10G Ethernet signals from copper twisted-pair cabling to 10Gbps fiber through an SFP+ interface. The copper port supports Cat5e or higher UTP cable up to 100 meters, while the 10G SFP+ slot provides flexible fiber connectivity using the appropriate SFP+ transceiver.

This architecture allows organizations to extend high-speed Ethernet networks over fiber without replacing existing copper-connected equipment.

Flexible 10G Fiber Connectivity

The M7280 uses a 10G SFP+ compliant fiber interface, supporting both multimode and single-mode fiber. SFP+ modules can be selected according to the required fiber type and transmission distance.

SFP+ modules are interchangeable, allowing the M7280 to be configured for the fiber type and transmission distance required by the network.

Full Wire-Speed 10G Conversion

The M7280 is designed for full wire-speed conversion between copper and fiber interfaces. Its store-and-forward architecture provides a forwarding rate of 14,880,000 packets per second with a forwarding delay of less than 5µs.

The converter also supports jumbo packets up to 9K bytes, helping accommodate applications that transmit large volumes of data.
