4-Channel Video Fiber Installation Kits

VERSITRON offers several 4-channel configurations to accommodate different fiber types and additional communication requirements.

  • Video Only: Four analog video signals transmitted over multimode or single-mode fiber
  • Video + Data: Four video signals with bidirectional data communication
  • Video + Data + Audio + Contact Closure: Four video signals with additional communication and control capabilities

Available configurations use multimode or single-mode fiber with ST simplex connectors.

What's Included in a 4-Channel Video Installation Kit?

The standard 4-channel installation kits include:

  • 4-channel analog video transmitter
  • 4-channel analog video receiver
  • Two 5VDC 2A power supplies
  • 100 meters of multimode or single-mode fiber optic cable

The transmitter is installed at the camera location and the receiver is installed at the monitoring or recording location.

The included 100 meters of fiber provides a convenient cable length for initial installation, testing, or shorter-distance applications. The fiber converters themselves support much longer transmission distances, depending on the model and fiber type. For extended-distance installations, customers can use their own fiber optic cable or existing fiber infrastructure.

How a 4-Channel Video to Fiber Converter Works

A 4-channel video-to-fiber system allows four analog CCTV camera signals to share a single fiber optic connection.

4 Channel Fiber video installation kits

CCTV Cameras 1–4 → 4-Channel Video Transmitter → Fiber Optic Cable → 4-Channel Video Receiver → Monitoring / Recording Equipment

The transmitter accepts four analog video inputs through BNC connectors and converts the signals into optical data for transmission over a single fiber optic cable.

At the receiving end, the optical signals are converted back into their original video formats and delivered to the connected monitoring or recording equipment.

Using one fiber connection for four video channels helps reduce cabling requirements while providing the long-distance and interference-resistant benefits of fiber optic transmission.

Features of 4-Channel Fiber Video Converters

Depending on the model, VERSITRON 4-channel video-to-fiber converters provide:

  • Four-channel uncompressed digital video transmission
  • 8-bit digital video transmission
  • NTSC, PAL, and SECAM compatibility
  • Up to 3 km transmission over multimode fiber
  • Up to 30 km transmission over single-mode fiber
  • Wide optical dynamic range
  • No EMI or RFI interference
  • No cross-talk or video distortion
  • No electrical or optical adjustments required
  • Plug-and-play installation
  • LED indicators for system monitoring
  • Standalone operation
  • Rackmount installation using the FVC18 chassis
  • Hot-pluggable operation in compatible FVC18 chassis configurations
  • RS-485 data support on applicable models
  • RS-232 and RS-422 options available on applicable configurations
  • 24-bit digitally encoded audio on applicable models

Video, Data, Audio, and Contact Closure Options

VERSITRON offers several 4-channel configurations, allowing the system to be matched to the requirements of the application.

Video Only

The basic configuration provides transmission of four analog CCTV video signals over a single fiber optic link.

Bidirectional Data

Selected models add bidirectional data communication between the transmitter and receiver. This is useful for surveillance systems requiring remote control of connected equipment.

PTZ Camera Control

Applicable models support RS-485 data for Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera control, with RS-232 and RS-422 options available for specific applications.

Audio and Contact Closure

Selected 4-channel configurations provide additional digitally encoded audio and contact-closure functionality, allowing video systems to incorporate additional communication and control signals over the same fiber link.

Multimode vs. Single-Mode 4-Channel Video Converters

The appropriate fiber configuration depends primarily on the required transmission distance.

Fiber Type Typical Maximum Distance Best Suited For
Multimode Up to 3 km Buildings, campuses, facilities, and shorter-distance installations
Single-mode Up to 30 km Long-distance surveillance and remote camera locations

Single-mode fiber is generally the appropriate choice when cameras and monitoring equipment are separated by longer distances.

Applications of 4-Channel Fiber Video Converters

VERSITRON 4-channel video-to-fiber converters are designed for applications where multiple analog video sources need to be transmitted over a single fiber optic link.

Security and Surveillance

Connect four CCTV cameras to a centralized monitoring or recording system while minimizing fiber cabling requirements.

Traffic Monitoring

Transmit video from multiple roadside cameras to traffic management and monitoring centers.

Industrial Monitoring

Provide reliable video connections for monitoring equipment, production processes, and remote areas within industrial facilities.

Public Safety

Connect multiple remote cameras to centralized emergency and public safety monitoring systems.

Campus Security

Extend CCTV connections across schools, universities, and other large campus environments.

Military and Defense

Fiber optic transmission provides interference-resistant connectivity for surveillance and monitoring applications.

Transportation

Connect cameras throughout airports, railways, transportation facilities, and other distributed infrastructure.

Energy and Utilities

Transmit surveillance video from substations, power plants, and other remote utility facilities.

Remote Locations

Use single-mode fiber to connect cameras located far from centralized monitoring equipment.

Standalone or Rackmount Installation

VERSITRON 4-channel video converters can be deployed as standalone units or installed in the FVC18 rackmount chassis.

Standalone deployment is well suited for locations requiring four video channels.

For larger surveillance systems, compatible modules can be installed in the FVC18 chassis to centralize multiple video converter channels in a rackmount installation. The chassis also provides a convenient way to organize and manage multiple video conversion modules.

Why Choose VERSITRON 4-Channel Video Fiber Converters?

VERSITRON 4-channel fiber video installation kits provide an efficient way to transmit four analog CCTV signals over a single fiber optic link.

With plug-and-play installation, support for major analog video formats, multimode and single-mode configurations, and optional data, audio, and contact-closure capabilities, the VersiVision product family provides flexibility for a wide range of surveillance and monitoring applications.

Fiber optic transmission also eliminates the EMI, RFI, cross-talk, and video distortion that can affect copper-based video connections, making these converters particularly useful in electrically noisy or demanding environments.

Connect Four CCTV Cameras Over Fiber

Need to connect multiple analog CCTV cameras over a long-distance fiber optic link?

VERSITRON 4-channel fiber video installation kits provide the transmitter, receiver, power supplies, and 100 meters of fiber cable needed to get started. For longer-distance installations, the converters can operate over customer-provided or existing fiber infrastructure according to the distance capabilities of the selected model.
