1-Channel Video Fiber Installation Kits
VERSITRON offers several 1-channel configurations to accommodate different fiber types and additional communication requirements.
- Video Only: Analog video transmission over multimode or single-mode fiber
- Video + Data: Video transmission with bidirectional data communication
- Video + Data + Audio: Video transmission with additional audio and contact-closure capabilities
Available configurations include multimode or single-mode fiber with ST simplex connectors.
What's Included in a 1-Channel Video Installation Kit?
The standard 1-channel installation kits include:
- 1-channel analog video transmitter
- 1-channel analog video receiver
- Two 5VDC 2A power supplies
- 100 meters of multimode or single-mode fiber optic cable
The transmitter is installed at the camera location and the receiver is installed at the monitoring or recording location.
The included 100 meters of fiber provides a convenient cable length for initial installation, testing, or shorter-distance applications. The fiber converters themselves support much longer transmission distances, depending on the model and fiber type. For extended-distance installations, customers can use their own fiber optic cable or existing fiber infrastructure.
How a 1-Channel Video to Fiber Converter Works
A 1-channel video-to-fiber system creates a point-to-point connection between an analog CCTV camera and monitoring or recording equipment.

Analog CCTV Camera → Video Transmitter → Fiber Optic Cable → Video Receiver → Monitor / Recording Equipment
The transmitter accepts the analog video signal through a BNC connection and converts it to an optical signal for transmission over fiber.
At the receiving end, the optical signal is converted back to the original video format and delivered to the connected monitoring or recording equipment.
Fiber optic transmission allows the camera signal to travel significantly farther than conventional coaxial video cabling while eliminating electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference.
Features of 1-Channel Fiber Video Converters
Depending on the model, VERSITRON 1-channel video-to-fiber converters provide:
- 8-bit uncompressed digital video transmission
- NTSC, PAL, and SECAM compatibility
- Up to 3 km transmission over multimode fiber
- Up to 30 km transmission over single-mode fiber
- Wide optical dynamic range
- No EMI or RFI interference
- No cross-talk or video distortion
- No electrical or optical adjustments required
- Plug-and-play installation
- LED indicators for system monitoring
- Standalone operation
- Rackmount installation using the FVC18 chassis
- Hot-pluggable operation in compatible FVC18 chassis configurations
- RS-485 data support on applicable models
- RS-232 and RS-422 options available on applicable configurations
- 24-bit digitally encoded audio on applicable models
- 10/100Base Ethernet on applicable models
Video, Data, Audio, and Contact Closure Options
VERSITRON offers more than basic video-only transmission.
Bidirectional DataSelected models provide bidirectional data communication between the camera and monitoring locations. This can be useful for surveillance systems requiring communication between remote equipment and centralized control systems.
PTZ Camera ControlFor Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras, applicable configurations support RS-485 data, with RS-232 and RS-422 options available for specific applications.
AudioSelected models provide 24-bit digitally encoded audio transmission in addition to video.
Contact ClosureCertain configurations also provide contact-closure functionality for applications requiring additional control or alarm signaling.
Multimode vs. Single-Mode 1-Channel Video Converters
The appropriate fiber configuration depends primarily on the required transmission distance.
| Fiber Type | Typical Maximum Distance | Best Suited For |
|---|---|---|
| Multimode | Up to 3 km | Buildings, campuses, facilities, and shorter-distance installations |
| Single-mode | Up to 30 km | Long-distance surveillance and remote camera locations |
Single-mode fiber is generally the appropriate choice when the camera and monitoring location are separated by longer distances.
1-Channel Fiber Video Converter Applications
VERSITRON 1-channel video-to-fiber converters can be used wherever a single analog camera needs to be connected over a fiber optic link.
Security and SurveillanceConnect individual CCTV cameras to centralized monitoring or recording systems over long distances.
Traffic MonitoringTransmit video from roadside cameras to traffic management and monitoring centers.
Industrial MonitoringProvide reliable video connections for monitoring equipment, production processes, and remote areas within industrial facilities.
Public SafetyConnect remote cameras to centralized emergency and public safety monitoring systems.
Campus SecurityExtend CCTV connections across schools, universities, and other large campus environments.
Military and DefenseFiber optic video transmission provides interference-resistant connectivity for surveillance and monitoring applications.
TransportationConnect cameras throughout airports, railways, transportation facilities, and other distributed infrastructure.
Energy and UtilitiesTransmit surveillance video from substations, power plants, and other remote utility facilities.
Remote LocationsUse single-mode fiber to connect cameras located far from centralized monitoring equipment.
Standalone or Rackmount Installation
VERSITRON 1-channel video converters can be deployed as standalone units or installed in the FVC18 18-slot rackmount chassis .
Standalone units are well suited for individual camera installations and smaller systems.
For larger surveillance deployments, compatible modules can be installed in the FVC18 chassis to centralize multiple video converter channels in a single rackmount system.
