Complete 2-Channel Video, Data, and Audio Fiber Optic Installation Kit

The FVMTR2BB3A combines two video channels, two bidirectional data channels, and two bidirectional audio channels into one fiber optic transmission system. The installation kit includes a 2-channel video transmitter, receiver, power supplies, and 100 meters of multimode fiber, providing the primary components needed to establish a complete video, data, and audio link.

A typical installation places the transmitter at the camera or field equipment location and the receiver at the monitoring or control location. The transmitter and receiver are connected by a single fiber optic cable, allowing all six communication channels to travel between locations.

Two Video Channels Over One Fiber

The VersiVision FVMTR2BB3A provides two channels of 8-bit digitally encoded video over one multimode optical fiber. The system is directly compatible with NTSC, PAL, and SECAM camera systems.

Each unit provides two BNC video connections for the two video channels. The wiring diagram on page 3 of the datasheet illustrates the two video sources connected to the transmitter and the corresponding two video outputs at the receiver.

Two Channels of Bidirectional Data

Unlike the FVMTR2A03A, which provides one bidirectional data channel, the FVMTR2BB3A provides two channels of bidirectional RS-485 data.

The data interface supports rates up to 300 Kbps, while RS-232 or RS-422 are available as optional configurations.

This makes the FVMTR2BB3A well suited for installations requiring multiple serial control or communication channels alongside video.

Two Channels of Bidirectional Digital Audio

The FVMTR2BB3A also provides two channels of bidirectional audio. Audio is digitally encoded at 24 bits, with a 600-ohm impedance, 2.0 Vp-p input/output level, and a frequency response of 10 Hz–20 kHz.

The two audio channels can travel in both directions over the same fiber link as the video and data channels.

Multiple Signals Over One Optical Fiber

The FVMTR2BB3A is designed to consolidate multiple communication functions onto a single fiber:

  • 2 channels of video
  • 2 channels of bidirectional data
  • 2 channels of bidirectional audio

The datasheet specifies one optical fiber for the system and identifies WDM technology as a feature for higher reliability.

This can simplify fiber cabling when a camera or remote monitoring installation requires video, control data, and audio communications.

8-Bit Digital Video Transmission

The video system provides 8-bit uncompressed video transmission with a bandwidth of 5 Hz–8 MHz and a specified video S/N ratio of 60 dB weighted.

The system is compatible with NTSC, PAL, and SECAM video formats, providing a straightforward fiber optic connection for compatible analog camera systems.

Multimode Fiber Transmission up to 3 km

The FVMTR2BB3A uses the FVTM2BB3A transmitter and FVRM2BB3A receiver, which are specified for multimode fiber transmission up to 3 km at 850/1310 nm.

The same product family includes singlemode models rated for up to 30 km, but the FVMTR2BB3A is specifically the ST multimode 3 km configuration.

WDM Technology for Reliable Transmission

The VersiVision system uses WDM technology to support transmission of the multiple video, data, and audio signals over a single optical fiber. The datasheet identifies WDM technology as a feature for higher reliability.

The datasheet also specifies no EMI, RFI, crosstalk, or video distortion as product characteristics.

Plug-and-Play Installation

The FVMTR2BB3A is designed for adjustment-free installation and operation. No electrical or optical adjustments are required, while LED indicators provide immediate visibility into system operating status.

This simplifies deployment when multiple video, audio, and data signals need to be extended over fiber.

Standard ST, BNC, and Screw-Terminal Connections

The FVMTR2BB3A uses:

  • ST simplex optical connector
  • BNC video connectors
  • Screw-terminal connections for data and audio
  • One multimode optical fiber

The datasheet also specifies ST-SC adapters for applications using SC fiber connectors.

LED Indicators for System Monitoring

LED indicators provide immediate visibility into system operating status. The wiring diagram on page 3 shows the power, video, data, and audio connections and their associated indicators.

The video indicators identify video presence at the BNC inputs, while the power indicator confirms that power has been applied.

Standalone or Rack-Mount Installation

The FVTM2BB3A transmitter and FVRM2BB3A receiver can be used as standalone units or installed in the VERSITRON FVC18 18-slot chassis. The units are hot-pluggable into the FVC18 chassis, providing a scalable option for installations requiring multiple fiber optic video, data, and audio channels.

2-Channel Video, Data, and Audio Applications

The FVMTR2BB3A is suited for applications requiring multiple video, serial data, and audio channels over one fiber connection, including:

  • CCTV video surveillance
  • PTZ camera systems
  • Remote video monitoring
  • Security monitoring
  • Industrial video monitoring
  • Camera control and serial communications
  • Remote audio monitoring
  • Control rooms with multiple video sources
