The FDVTR1AA5A-AE combines multiple communication functions into a single fiber optic transmission system. The installation kit includes a video transmitter, video receiver, power supplies, and 100 meters of singlemode fiber, providing the primary components needed to establish a complete fiber optic connection.
A typical installation places the transmitter at the camera or field equipment location and the receiver at the remote monitoring or control location. The two units are connected by a single fiber optic cable.
Five Communication Functions Over One Fiber
The FDVTR1AA5A-AE is designed to carry multiple communication functions simultaneously over one optical fiber:
- 1-channel 8-bit digitally encoded video
- 1-channel bidirectional data
- 1-channel bidirectional audio
- 1-channel bidirectional contact closure
- 1-channel 10/100Base Ethernet
This integrated architecture allows video, control, audio, contact-closure, and Ethernet communications to share one fiber connection between locations.
8-Bit Digital Video Transmission
The video portion of the FDVTR1AA5A-AE provides 8-bit uncompressed digital video and is directly compatible with NTSC, PAL, and SECAM camera systems. The system is designed for broadcast-quality video transmission over a single optical fiber.
The video interface uses a standard BNC connector, making the system straightforward to integrate with compatible analog video equipment.
Bidirectional Data for Camera Control
The FDVTR1AA5A-AE provides one channel of bidirectional data using RS-485 as the standard interface. RS-232 or RS-422 configurations are available as options. Data transmission supports rates up to 300 Kbps.
The bidirectional data channel makes the system suitable for video installations where serial control or other data must travel between the camera or field equipment and the remote monitoring location.
24-Bit Bidirectional Digital Audio
The system provides one channel of bidirectional audio using 24-bit digital encoding. The audio interface has a 600-ohm impedance, 2.0 Vp-p input/output level, and a frequency response of 10 Hz–20 kHz.
This provides an additional communication channel for installations requiring audio transmission along with video and control signals.
Bidirectional Contact Closure
The FDVTR1AA5A-AE provides one channel of bidirectional contact closure, allowing contact-based control signals to be transmitted across the fiber link.
The contact-closure interface is specified for 24 VDC at 0.5 A or 125 VAC at 0.1 A, normally open.
Integrated 10/100 Ethernet
The FDVTR1AA5A-AE also provides one 10/100 Mbps Ethernet channel. The Ethernet interface uses a shielded RJ-45 connector.
This allows Ethernet connectivity to be incorporated into the same fiber optic link rather than requiring a separate fiber connection for each function.
Singlemode Fiber Transmission up to 30 km
The FDVTR1AA5A-AE is the singlemode, long-distance configuration of this VersiVision product family. It uses 1310/1550 nm optics and supports transmission distances up to 30 km over one singlemode optical fiber.
The product-model table in the datasheet identifies the FDVT1AA5A-AE transmitter and FDVR1AA5A-AE receiver as the singlemode versions, each rated for 30 km.
WDM Technology for Multi-Signal Transmission
The VersiVision system uses WDM technology to support transmission of the multiple communication functions over a single optical fiber. The datasheet identifies WDM technology as a feature for higher reliability.
Using one fiber for video, data, audio, contact closure, and Ethernet can simplify cabling between the field and monitoring locations.
