Unlike commercial-grade devices, our Industrial PoE switches can withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +80°C. These products are also suited for less than ideal conditions where they may be subjected to shock and vibrations. The PoE/PoE+ capabilities allow the switches to provide power to remote devices across any network.
The switches are distinguished as PoE and PoE+ according to the electrical power they provide. For example, a PoE switch can provide 15.4 Watts of power to the Ethernet port while a PoE+ device provides 30 Watts, nearly almost twice the power of a standard PoE switch.
VERSITRON’s Industrial Grade managed PoE/PoE+ Ethernet-to-Fiber Switches are equipped with 10/100/1000Base RJ45 ports with PoE+ (30W or 66W budget depending on the model) and 100/1000Base SFP fiber ports that extend existing networks over multimode or singlemode fiber. These switches are in compliant with IEEE802.3af and IEEE802.3at standards. Many applications require power from the Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) device to be supplied through Ethernet cables including those where Electrical-to-Optical Ethernet Switches are being used to extend distances. Featuring rugged construction, these Industrial PoE/PoE+ devices can withstand extreme temperatures, shock, and vibration, as well as other harsh conditions.

How to choose between commercial and industrial PoE Switches?
The main benefit of any PoE switch is that it can provide power and transmit data over the same Ethernet cable. This is useful for a network consisting of remote areas where power sources are scarce. Industrial switches are designed for rough industrial environments and networks that pass through hard and disconnected terrains.
While commercial switches are robust and designed to work at elevated temperatures even up to 50 degrees Celsius, they are meant for normal environments such as offices, educational institutes, commercial or retail complexes, and other more stable environments.
Hardened industrial switches can withstand much higher temperatures up to 75 degrees Celsius and can resist abrasion, vibration, and more. Also, they can withstand extreme cold environments up to -40 degrees Celsius.
Unlike commercial switches, industrial switches always come with an enclosure with an IP30 or IP40 rating.
