The VERSITRON F280xD series RS-232 serial data to fiber converter makes it easy to transmit data, clock, and control signals over fiber optics. It supports both synchronous and asynchronous data transfer, with adjustable data rates of up to 128 Kbps in terminal timing.

This serial-to-fiber converter is built for reliable performance in both full-duplex and simplex transmission modes. Its circuit card design makes it a great fit for data terminals or communication equipment.

The RS-232 fiber optic modem (FOM II modem) supports interface control signals for these standards:

  • RS-232 or CCITT V.24/V.28
  • RS-423
  • MIL-STD-188-114A

This is accomplished by multiplexing the control signals along with clock and data signals and transmitting this serialized signal to the remote unit. At the remote unit, the signal is demultiplexed and applied to the interface.

The F280xD series comes in both DCE (Data Communications Equipment) and DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) configurations. It operates in pairs, ensuring a smooth and transparent connection over fiber optics.

The VERSITRON F280xD series RS-232 to fiber media converter provides a secure and reliable way to transmit serial data over fiber optics. With transparent data transfer and minimal signal distortion, it ensures consistent, high-performance communication.
Built for long-distance transmission, this serial data modem supports data transfer up to 2 km using 1310nm multi-mode fiber and up to 20 km with 1310nm single-mode fiber, making it a great choice for critical applications that require extended reach.
This RS-232 to fiber converter features a DB25 connector for copper connections and an LC connector for the fiber optic interface, ensuring broad compatibility with different devices. Additionally, it's designed for rack-mount installation in a high-density 19" standard chassis, making it easy to integrate into existing network setups.
Engineered for reliability in harsh industrial environments, this serial to fiber media converter operates within a temperature range of 0° to 50°C (32° to 122°F), making it well-suited for demanding conditions.
Additionally, the F280xD fiber optic modem features seven status indicators: Power (PWR), Alarm (ALM), Transmit Data (TXD), Receive Data (RXD), Transmit Clock (TXC), Receive Clock (RXC), and Loopback (LOOP) for easy monitoring and diagnostics.
