HD-CVI, AHD, HD-TVI Installation Kits

The HD over coax or HDoC technology has been around for nearly a decade, and is an efficient alternative to IP networking systems for video surveillance. HDoC comprises High Definition-Composite Video Interface (HD-CVI), High Definition-Transport Video Interface (HD-TVI), Analog High Definition (AHD), and High Definition-Serial Digital Interface (HD-SDI) technologies. These are open platform technologies and by and large, all of them help convert digital signals into analog ones with the help of some cost-effective hardware. They lend an amazing picture quality. VERSITRON offers HDMI video systems in the form of AHD signal converters as well as transmitters and HD-CVI, AHD, HD-TVI installation kits. We offer all of the equipment you need to convert your HD-CVI, HD-TVI, and AHD camera signals to fiber optic in one convenient installation kit! Each kit includes the following:
  • HD-CVI, HD-TVI, or AHD Video Transmitter
  • HD-CVI, HD-TVI or AHD Receiver
  • Power supplies
  • 100 meters of Multimode or Single Mode Fiber

    Installation Procedure

Our HD-CVI and HD-TVI video converters are quite easy to install. The HD series units are preset for immediate use. There are indicator LEDs on the units for monitoring the real-time status of power and video. The following instructions describe the typical installation procedure and the function of the LED indicators located on each unit.

    • Connect the HD video source to the BNC connector on the transmitter using coaxial cable.
    • Connect the BNC connector on the receiver unit to the HD video monitor using coaxial cable.
    • If using the bi-directional data option, please refer to the below images and instructions.
    • Connect the fiber optic cable between the transmitter and receiver.
    • Apply the power supply to both the transmitter and receiver.
    • The system should now be operational.

Difference Between AHD, HD-CVI and HD-TVI Technologies

While these technologies do the same job, they are different in terms of functioning and other aspects. Here are the differences:
    • AHD is relatively new and cost effective. It enables users to get high-quality videos at the price equivalent to analog cameras.
    • Hardware required for HD-TVI is much cheaper compared to HD-CVI although both the technologies convert digital signals to analog.
    • HD-CVI unlike HD-TVI is not an open platform technology; it is based on licenses issued to businesses for its usage.
    • While there are no major differences as far as their function is concerned, the chips and sensors they use are different.
    • Unlike IP, these technologies use DVRs because they do not have an in-built computer or memory in them.
    • The DVRs or digital video recorders are specific to each technology. For instance, HD-TVI camera system cannot be used for HD-CVI.

Troubleshooting Our HD Video Converters and Transmission Systems

The HD Series is available for most applications using multimode or single mode optical fiber. Here are a few pointers which may help in case of any system issues:
    • Be certain that the attenuation and bandwidth of the fiber optic cable being used is within the range of the system’s loss budget specifications.
    • Refer to the wiring diagrams above or in the relevant instruction manuals; as well as the documentation of the devices being connected to the VERSITRON products, to be certain that the data wiring is correct.
    • Any dirt or dust may easily pollute or block the fiber optic cable from accepting / transmitting light. Therefore, please try to keep the optical connector clear and always use the dust cap whenever the connector is exposed to air. It is suggested that the tip of the optical fiber be carefully cleaned with a lint-free cloth moistened with alcohol from time to time.
    • Observe the LED status to identify any possible operational failure. Contact VERSITRON directly if any issue should arise. We would be happy to assist you!
