FOM IIs: Now MicroModem Compatible For those who have space constraints at one end of their application, but still prefer the features that the FOM IIs can offer, our new MicroModem compatible FOM IIs may be just what you need. These products will allow you to use an RS-232 or RS-530 FOM II at one end of your application link and an RS-232 or RS-530 MicroModem at the other end. The FOM II compatibles can provide fiber optic links as interface extenders, modem links, or 4 channel multiplexers for synchronous, asynchronous, or isochronous data. In addition, units are DTE/DCE switch selectable. These modems will provide a link that is fully transparent in both directions with full-duplex, half-duplex, or simplex data transmission up to 64 kbps with source or terminal timing. You can use these modems with multimode or singlemode fiber optic cable. Data rates and electrical signal characteristics conform to EIA RS-232/MIL-STD-188C and RS-530/MIL-STD-114 standards. The FOM II compatible modems will transmit up to 14 km, have LED indicators for instant system monitoring, and operate as standalone or rackmount units.
