How are they being used? How about underwater? The RS-232 M8000 Industrial Modem Series singlemode MicroModems are currently being used in a university research project for underwater data communications links between submerged equipment. The purpose: counting sea plankton. These modems are also being used at surface level in order to monitor the count. One of our most unusual applications for sure!
Yes, our absolute "toughest" modem is our MicroModem product (M6000, M8000). This product is available in both multimode and single mode fiber and provides synchronous, asynchronous, isochronous full duplex transmission as well as fully transparent operation in a compact package. Speeds up to 64 Kbps, distances to 15 km.
