GENERAL DESCRIPTION

VERSITRON FOM II Series Module F2400 Group T1/E1 fiber modems provide synchronous, full duplex, half duplex, or simplex data transmission at 1.544 Mbps (T1) and 2.048 Mbps (E1), at distances up to 30 km with fully transparent operation. This product line supports ANSI T1.403, AT&T TR54016 and AT&T TR62411 T1 standards, and CCITT G.703, G.824, G.955 E1 standards. Several different configurations are offered to accommodate a wide variety of fiber optic needs.

These modems are available with 850nm multimode (MM) LEDs for distances up to 3 km ( 1.85 mi / 9,800 ft), with 1300 MM LEDs for distances up to 15 km ( 9.3 mi / 49,999 ft), or with 1300nm single mode (SM) LEDs for distances up to 30 km (18.6 mi / 98,000 ft). Housing options include either single card or dual card standalone enclosures, and 2-slot or 20-slot 19" rack mount chassis. The 20-slot chassis is powered by AC150W power supplies and may utilize 2 power supplies for redundancy. Each modem installed in either single or dual card enclosures or in 2-slot chassis requires an AC to DC power adapter.

To match specific communication link distance requirements, the F2400 Group T1/E1 Interface Extenders incorporate interchangeable optical modules that may be installed easily in the field. These products will operate with over a 20dB link margin on 850 nm optics with 100/140 mm fiber optic cable, and with a bit error rate (BER) exceeding 10 to the minus 9th. The T1/E1 Interface Extenders can also utilize 50/125 or 62.5/125mm fiber cable with link budget modifications.

FEATURES

To accommodate quick low cost system expansion and enhancements, the F2400 Group T1/E1 Interface Extenders employ the latest FPGA technology. The F2400 products transmit and receive data using a proprietary VERSITRON encoding scheme. The sampling rate of the data signals is approximately 12 MHz (T1), 16 MHz (E1).

The T1 modems provide binary 8-zero substitution (B8ZS) and alternating mark inversion (AMI) data format conversion, while the E1 modems provide high-density bipolar order 3 (HDB3) and AMI data format conversion. Other features include status six indicator LEDs for power on (PWR), alarm (ALM), transmite data present (TXD), receive data present (RXD), bipolar violation (BPV), and loopback mode indicator (LOOP).

Interchangeable fiber optic modules are field replaceable to permit quick, convenient upgrades as system requirements change. Choice of chassis includes HF-1 and HF-2 desktop enclosures, HF2-SS ( side by side), and HF-20 rack mount.
