GENERAL DESCRIPTION
VERSITRON FOM II F2800 group fiber optic modems provide synchronous/asynchronous /isochronous full-, half-duplex, or simplex data transmission now at speeds up to 1 Mbps at distances up to 14 km, with fully transparent operation. These modems support RS-232, RS-422, RS-423, RS-449, RS-530, V.35, MIL-188C, MIL-188-114 and are offered in many different configurations to meet a wide variety of fiber optic sets and link budgets.
To match specific communication link distance requirements. F2800 group modems incorporate interchangeable optical modules which may be installed easily in the field. The modems operate over a 20dB link margin on 850 nm optics with 100/140 micron multimode fiber at a better than 10 to the minus 9th BER (Bit Error Rate), and can also be used with 50/125 or 62.5/125 multimode fiber optic cable with link budget modifications. The F2800 group modems are also compatible with 9/125 and 10/125 singlemode fiber.
FEATURES
To accomodate quick, low cost system expansion and/or changes, F2800 group modems incorporate unique Xilinx programmable CPLD or FPGA technologies. Sampling rates are optimized to accommodate higher data speeds.
F2800 group modems also incorporate internal (18 discrete frequencies, switch selectable--see chart) as well as external (data agile, any frequency, 0-300 kbps) clocking options. In addition, these modems have a remote/local switch to loop CTS signal internally, a loop back switch for data link trouble-shooting, and LED status indicators.
They are available with ST optical connectors in both short wavelengths (850nm) and long wavelengths (1300nm) for multimode fiber. Singlemode 1300 nm longwave is also available. (See selection guide below).
Interchangeable fiber optic modules are field replaceable to permit quick, convenient upgrades as system requirements change or grow.
Mounting configurations include FOM II chassis (HF1, HF2, HF2SS, or HF20 housings).
